Sunday’s Coming

The preacher/sociologist Tony Campolo once spoke at a funeral
on a Friday.  He’s repeated refrain throughout was ‘it’s Friday, but
Sunday’s coming.’  He did so to remind his listeners that following
Good Friday, came Resurrection Sunday, and whatever we face
on Friday or any other day, new life comes to us.

“Sunday’s coming” is also a reminder that no matter what happens
during the week and in our lives  -  surgeries, medical therapies, job loss and/or search, worries  -  Sunday comes with the opportunity
to gather with God’s people, to be reminded of God’s ever present
care and grace in our lives, of the wonder and hope offered to us
by our God.

With all that goes on in our world, and in our lives, it is sometimes
hard to think of rejoicing, isn’t it?  Yet, that is precisely what Paul
urges us to do in Philippians 4:1-9.  The sermon will be about the struggle we sometimes have to rejoice, and what Paul is
talking about in this encouragement.

The Praise Band will join in leading us in worship, and that is
always a special experience.

The kids and I are going to talk about ‘what do I do when I mess up?’
Which is also a question on the minds of a lot of us adults, I’ll bet!

Join us, invite a friend or neighbor, come just as you are.
